Housekeeping leader Pamini Hemaprabha reflects on her international career and argues for courage, values and the coexistence of hygiene and sustainability.
My journey began in 2003 at the ITC Park Sheraton, after graduating as a gold medallist in Hotel Management. Through a series of senior roles at Grand Hyatt, Raffles, Fairmont, Kempinski, Marriott and others, I am now Director of Services with The Peninsula London.
What I cherish most is striking the balance between my career and my family. Of my twelve international awards, publishing my books has been my favourite achievement. I believe in my dreams and in myself, love challenges and refuse to fall prey to any comfort zone.
My advice: stay true to your values, dare to dream big and take tough decisions. Empowered women empower women, and emotional intelligence is a must. I also firmly believe hygiene and sustainability can coexist, as there are highly effective solutions that prioritise both.
